2002 Chevy Monte Carlo 6 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 45,000 miles

My check engine light came on 2 weeks ago, after having it diagnosed we replaced an oxygen sensor, it's on again. After running another diagnosis I am replacing a thermostat. I also have noticed a small popping feeling in the steering when I put on the brakes, could this be connected?
