1999 Chevy Monte Carlo coolant smell & leak

have a 1999 Montecarlo with a strong coolant smell with heater on. I noticed it dripping out the condensation drain on firewall for heater core, but cant see or find any wetness inside car. was going to change heater core, but want to make sure that's whets wrong.
