This car has the 3.1l v6 and you have to push the accelerater to start it then there is black smoke out the exhaust, heavy at first then just light black smoke. Once I get up to speed it seems to run fine but when stopped it runs rough again. Additionally the service engine light will come on as well as the abs light then sometimes go out. It seems as though there is low vaccuum too.

Sounds like its running rich due to the check engine light.

Get it scanned and it will tell us what is wrong and when you post back I can tell you how to fix it!

Get back to me asap.

For grins I decided to check the fuel pressure regulator. When I removed the top line from the regulator fuel was present so I replaced the fuel regulator and that resolved the problem. This is a great site! Thanks for being here!
