Regular brake lights won't work, brake light on rear window works. I replaced the bulbs and the fuse looks fine. Also the brake light switch works. Please help.

Hi, do the turn signals work? Your lower brake lites are wired through the multifunction switch. Possible issue with multifunction switch?

Did you check for voltage and ground at the rear lamp. Green wire on one side, yellow on the other for voltage. Black is ground.

I had the same problem with my 99 model. I would notice that the brake lights would work when I pulled the turn signal towards me (but not turning on your brights) when braking, but not if I left the turn signal alone. It's a wiring issue with the vehicle's steering wheel column and not uncommon to monte carlos at all. I had to replace the turn signal and have the wiring in the steering column fixed after I failed my vehicle inspection.
