My car starts up and drives just fine the first time you start it up. You go into a store and come back out try to leave the car turns over but doesnt stay running or wont fire at all. You can smell gas under hood. You can get it running "ROUGHLY" if you have starting fluid and spray heavily into air breather. It will run like its not hitting on all cylinders and then it will finally come out of it and run better, but even sometimes I have to let it set and come back a long time later and it will fire like no problem. WHATS MY PROBLEM?

If you smell gas, then most likely the problem is in the ignition system. Has the check engine light come on? To me it sounds like a crank sensor or a bad ignition module. However, without the check engine light and a trouble code from the computer, it becomes a guessing game.

Let me know about the light.
