Hi:
If you purchased a new carb, there is a very good chance that it does need adjusted.

When you say there is smoke coming out of the exhaust, what color is it?

Is the smoke only there when the car is just started or all the time?

Hi Again:
It could be an intake gasket or a head gasket. I need you to check a few things. First, check the oil for coolant contamination, and the coolant for oil contamination. After that, check all around the intake for coolant leaks or evidence of coolant. FInally, and don't laugh, remove the PCV valve and with the engine running, take the oil fill cap off and let me know what happens to the engine (if anything) and if there is any smoke coming from the crankcase.
