1999 Malibu - Theft System
1. Make and Model of your car - 1999 Malibu
2. Current odometer reading - 112,812
3. Automatic Transmission
4. 2 wheel drive
5. Strange sounds - none
6. Fluid leaks - none
7. Past repair history if applicable - regular tune ups
I have been having problems with my Malibu. If the car doesn't start on the first try, a flashing message "Theft System" will appear on the instrument panel. I have to wait for some 10-15 minutes before trying again. What do I need to do to eliminate this problem?
Thanks.

Try a different key for starters. Most often it seems the ignition switch goes bad on these. A no-start is the more common symptom. If another keys doesn't change anything, it is best to have it diagnosed.
