Hello,

I have a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu. If I replace the EGR valve, with the check engine light on, how do I clear the computer to make the check engine light go off. I've already replaced the O2 sensors. The last on my list is the EGR valve. I was told, once I clear the computer, I have to drive it for so many miles before the computer registers everything. Is this true? And if so, how many miles does it have to be driven? Thanks for reading my question.

Best regards.

You will have to have the codes cleareed with a scan tool, yes it will take at least 2 drive cycles to let the computer recheck for proper operations of egr and show it as a "pass" monitor, get your codes cleared and drive as you normally would, have a great day!
