My 1998 Chevrolet malibu has gas coming out of the tailpipe. What could be the problem.

Turn key on engine off
do you have check engine light on
or service engine soon

ITS CONDENSATION
are you sure its gas and not water from condensation
it is almost impossible for the gas to leak out the tail pipe
it has to go through the o2 sensor and will turn check engine light on
engine will be miss firing !
Or if you have a gas leak also check engine come on
check it and make sure its gas

Yes it is miss firing and also it is gas not condensation that is coming out of the tailpipe.

Misfire and no check engine
I don't think so
have it scanned and check the injectors and fuel pressure regulator
