We were experiencing coolant leak problems and took the car to a radiator shop. Pressure test was fine, but water pump was leaking. Radiator shop sent us to another shop to have the water pump replaced. After looking the car over the mechanic said that we had an intake manifold gasket that needed to be fixed in addition to the water pump. I am at a loss to see how these two items are related and wonder if the mechanic is trying to pad the bill. The mechanic said the current intake manifold leak was small, but noticeable. Is this scenario possible? Is it logical?
