1997 Chevy Malibu 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 100k miles

where do you locate the overfill plug. the fillplug (red cap) does not seem to show any fluid level. How much to add?

Does it have a dipstick on it or just a plug? If its the dipstick with levels on it. start the car and gradually fill it till it comes up to the full level mark.

If its just a plug cover-fill it till you see the fluid at the opening.
