I have a 1997 chevy lumina, that I bought about 9 months ago. I pulled into a store and turned the car off. When I came out and got back in the car, the radio and the lights came on, but the car would not turn over. It did not make any sounds, but on the dash board, the red security light kept on flashing, every time that I would try to start the car. This light has never came on before. The car has a V6 motor, automatic transmission. Even today, the car started fine all day, until tonight when it would not start back up. I looked at the battery cables, they seemed to have a tight connection. Why won't my car start???????????????????????????????????????????

Sounds like the resistor in your key has gone bad (you should hope)...otherwise, you will probably need a new ignition cylinder.

A remote possiblity is (if you have remote keyless entry or power door locks) your driver's side door is not completely unlocked...they can unlock enough to allow entry, but not enough to disable VATS...though usually the car will then still start.

You should call your GM dealer, tell them your VIN, ask ask for the VATS code...then get a new key (about $20) ... then pray this fixes it.
