HELP! I have a 1990 honda civic lx 4 door with an Automatic Transmission. I just bought it, and the dashboard, clock and shifter illumination lights do not work. I checked the fuse #8 I believe, and it is good. First, the car does not have the fuse panel layout-- If anyone has it PLEASE email it to me :D !! Second, the headlights, turn signals and tail lights all work. Third, someone replaced the red-black wire from the fuse box to a connector on the kick panel of the passenger side. I checked it with the light switch on, and it has 12v. I am at a loss--I even tried jumpering 12v directly to the rheostat leads and no joy. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Chris

This may seem very stupidly simple but look around under the dash for any ground wires that may be loose or disconnected. Grounding is critical.

...also, the PDL and rt side seatbelt retractor does not work, and the interval wiper setting only works with the cruise control button in the off position. Weird!!

You have a grounding problem. Those other problems seem to add to the growing list. I don't have a good drawing of the wiring on the car to know how many grounds there are and where they are located. Maintenance manuals will show the grounds but may be sketchy on the locations.

Thanks for the input! I will check into it tomorrow-- kinda funny-- the clock faded on and then off this morning. This would be tragic if the car did not run so well.
