Just recently, my 1997 Lumina, during take off from a complete stop, has been reving up but hesitating to go. After I am on my way, I have no other problems. There are no codes. This only seems to happen when starting from drive and overdrive, no other gear. It is an automatic, but the only way to describe it is like when you are part way holding in the clutch and gas on a standard. Any ideas?

It sounds like your torque converter is going bad.

I would start by making sure the ATF level is okay and in good condition. The next step will be to take the car to a transmission shop for an accurate diagnostic.

Good luck
