MY car started to overheat, it turned out I needed a new manifold gasket and a new head gasket because the oil and anti-freeze was mixing. So with that I also got a full tune-up and oil change along with a new thermostat. THe problem didnt stop. So I also got a new radiator and water-pump along with a new thermostat again. Also a new gasket for the thermostat. Now my temp gauge flucuates from cold to hot and says its overheating but there is no smoke coming from my car. Also My heat goes in and out. Somtimes it real nice and hot and other times its freezing cold. SOmeone please Help me I dont know what to do anymore! Thanks. Oh yeah p.S not to mention its freezing cold outside right now. LOL

Now when you changed the head gasket was the head checked for cracks. Usually the head towards the firewall cracks. Ask the shop that repaired it.

If they sent the head to a machine shop to be checked they would have found any size crack no matter what. Was the head straight? Did they have the job done in one day?

As a repair shop owner I dont like to talk about another shop. If the work was done recently and it is still happening then bottom line is the repair is the responsibility of the shop, not yours.

Nope. It was a friend mechanic who did it. How long do you think my car will last if the block is cracked

I have never seen a cracked block in this engine. A radiator cap that is bad will make your car boil over at 212 degrees. Its cheap enough to replace.
