Remove air cleaner assembly and intake air tube.
Remove exhaust crossover pipe to lefthand exhaust manifold attaching bolts.
Disconnect shift control cable at transaxle, then remove cable from mounting bracket.
Disconnect electrical connection at transaxle.
Disconnect vacuum line from vacuum modulator (if equipped).
Install engine support fixture J28477- 1, adapter 28467-90 and leg J36462.
Raise and support vehicle, then remove both wheel and tire assemblies.
Remove left wheel housing splash shield.
Disconnect power steering rack and pinion and support it to body.
Disconnect right and left ball joints at steering knuckle. Use ball joint remover tool No. J35917 or equivalent to separate ball joints at steering knuckle.
Disconnect power steering cooler lines from frame.
Remove engine mount nuts, then loosen splash shield. Support frame with jackstand, then disconnect frame from vehicle.
Remove support.
Remove torque converter cover and converter-to-flywheel bolts/screws.
Disconnect wiring harness at transaxle.
Disconnect drive axles from transaxle.
Install jackstand to transaxle, then disconnect ground wires at transaxle.
Remove lower transaxle oil cooler lines at transaxle, then disconnect engine wiring harness.
Lower transaxle side using engine support fixture.
Transaxle oil cooler lines should be flushed whenever transaxle has been removed for overhaul or replacement of torque converter, pump or case.
Reverse procedure to install
