1993 Chevy Lumina 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

the engine cranks but will not turn over. checked teh fuel pump and the noise it's supposed to make is there.

my mechanic (who is a pretty good one) is no longer having in this area, so thats out of the question. he gave me a few tests to run that i still have to run.... i have to run a spark test to see if there is a spark. also there is a "smell" test to see if the fuel is being burnt or not.

i am trying to find a diagnostics flow chart to go off of- i.e., check this. if it works/does not work check (accordingly) this or that. then if if this works or does nto work, check this or that.

does anyone know where i can access something like this, or even give me a basic rundown? my mechanic is stuck putting an engine into a truck today so he doesn't really have time for tech support right now. any help will be greatly appreciated.

Do below

Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors- Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it
