I have a 2002 jetta and water has been leaking into the driver and most recently the passenger floorboards. I have checked the sunroof drains and they seem to be draining fine. Any suggestions as to what could be leaking or what I could check myself.

Hello, Have you figured out what's causing your leak yet? I just had a similar problem with a driver-side leak on my 2003 Jetta wagon during the rainy weather we've had for the last month. Since it's still under warranty, the VW dealer checked it out and said it had defective door seals. They replaced the ones on the driver side, and ordered two more for the passenger side, which have to come from Germany.

I still had water coming in under the dash, especially when the car was parked uphill, so took it back in. They found that there was a clogged drain that was overflowing when it rained, so the water was running into the car.

The carpet was starting to smell moldy, and the windows were steamed up all the time. Hope it's all fixed now.

It happened to my 97 cabrio once a couple of years ago. It was after I had some electrical work done. The mechanics worked on the wires under the dashboard on the driver side. Then it flooded the floor in the next rainstorm. I took it back to the mechanic. They claimed they didn't find any leak. But they must have done something to correct it because it stopped the leak since then.
