Hissing fuel pump

Why does my 2002 chevy impala make a hissing sound. The sound is coming from the gas tank. It has 88,000 miles. It has a 6 cylinder engine. When I bang on the fuel tank you can hear it hissing lower. Please help.

Fill tank up do you still hear it? Does it sound like a electrical buzzing or humming. If so that could be the fuel pump showing you its age.
