Caliper problems

I just replaced a cracked rotor and a caliper on my husbands 1996 chevrolet silverado C1500, (passenger side). I also put on new break pads and bled the passenger side. He drove it down the road and the caliper is still not releasing and causing it to smoke and smell like it is burning. If everything is new what else could be wrong?

After applying the brakes in the shop, see if the tire can be turned. If it can't, loosen the bleeder screw on that brake and see if the brake loosens. If it does then there could be a failed flexible hose at the wheel or a master cylinder problem. If it still doesn't then the slides at the calliper may be sticky.
