Engine Mechanical problem
2004 Chevy Impala 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

When my car is just sitting it overheats, when I am driving it cools off and the heater just works when it wants. I flushed the radiator to be sure that there was no clog and there is not and it did not help. I don't know what else to do?

It sounds like you have an air pocket in the cooling system. Remove the heater hose that is the highest one. There will be two side by side near the throttle body. Remove the coolant cap. Fill the cooling system through the heater hose. When coolant is coming out of the fill cap, close it. Continue filling through the hose until full. Install the hose. Start the engine.

another way to do it is to open the bleeder screws. one is located by the throttle body on the thermostat house. and the other is on the coolant pipe up front of the engine.
