Noises problem
2002 Chevy Impala 6 cyl Automatic

Hi, when my car gets up to around 35 mph it makes the noise of a jet engine and continues, when I slow down below 35 it stops, when it idles you can't hear any noise at all. You can sit in park or neutral and rev the engine and no noise is heard.
What could this be?

That's not your engine, it's your wheel bearing. It could be at any corner of your vehicle.

It's simple to check weather it's the front or back. Just have someone ride in the back seat and get his/her ear close to each side of the rear. If it can't be heard in the back, then it's the front.

Then you'll have to take it in for servicing. Whatever you do, don't continue to drive on a bad wheel bearing. I've seen wheels pop off on people while they were cruising down the highway.
