2002 Chevy Impala car smells like gas when driving, but not

2002 Chevy Impala 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

So, my impala has been smelling like gasoline for about a week now. I don't notice the gas mileage getting any worse, and I don't smell anything while the car is idling. Realizing that gasoline evaporates quickly, I placed cardboard under the car and let it idle for around 15 minutes--checked the cardboard, and no leaks! Why does the car smell?

Has the check engine light come on? There is an EVAP system that should prevent fumes from getting into the atmosphere. There could be a leak in that. Also, have you checked the engine compartment? Injectors?
