My impala sometimes wont start. Well it starts and sputters and shakes then shuts off. If you wait 45 minutes it will start fine. Thought it was just when it was hot out, but It seems to be when I use my AC. Mechanic changed ignition module, still the same problem. Any ideas?

Katiemarie2907,

I am surprised to hear that the A/C is causing your engine to stall.

I had a similar problem with the engine stalling with no apparent reason or indication and after a few minutes it would start and drive like nothing was wrong with it.

Like your mechanic, my mechanic replaced the ignition module. When it happened again, he re-installed the ignition module (which was still good) and changed the crankshaft position sensor (which will shut off power to the module if it malfunctions). That was 3 years ago, and no problems with stalling since.

Ask your mechanic to reinstall your original ignition module, and repair your problem by replacing the Crankshaft Position Sensor.

It works.
