My 2001 Impala has trouble cranking in cold weather. This began last winter. I turn the key to start position, nothing happens. I let it back to the run position, and the car cranks, kind of like the computer is telling it to, until it fires. Sometimes if I do that a lot, the car will start.

If the passenger cabin heats up in the sun, no problems - the car starts fine. It seems to be temp related, and quite consistent now that cold weather is back again.

I put a new starter on last winter, no difference! What should I try next? It doesn't seem to be the ign switch, as I can wiggle it all I want and not change the behavior.

I fixed it myself. It was the ignition switch. One bank of switches that fed the pink wire was not making contact when in "start" position. It should have. Donating money never got a reply to my post here...

My 2000 impala wont start when it's below 40 degrees outside. Above 40 and between 50 you have to turn the key to start several times and eventually it will start but below 40, no way. I put a blow dryer below the hood and it started after a few minutes the other day, but it's gotten colder and now it wont start at all! Really annoying!
