My 2001 Impala has trouble cranking in cold weather. This began last winter. I turn the key to start position, nothing happens. I let it back to the run position, and the car cranks, kind of like the computer is telling it to, until it fires. Sometimes if I do that a lot, the car will start.
If the passenger cabin heats up in the sun, no problems - the car starts fine. It seems to be temp related, and quite consistent now that cold weather is back again.
I put a new starter on last winter, no difference! What should I try next? It doesn't seem to be the ign switch, as I can wiggle it all I want and not change the behavior.
