Hi, I drive a 2001 Chevy Impala. One morning I cranked the car and it started sputtering really bad. All i could smell was exhaust fumes and the car wouldn't accelerate over 20 mph. I took it to an auto repair shop and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. They changed the plugs and wires, but im still having the same trouble. It will drive fine for a couple of days, then it will start sputtering again. I was thinking it could need a new fuel regulator. What could be the problem?

It could be a fuel regulator but I would try other things first. Such as, did you maybe buy bad gas? There could be water in the gas. Hopefully there is no oil leaking internally, does the car smoke real bad? If at some time you let your gas run out or even run really low, you could have dirt in your fuel injection line or on the fuel injectors themselves. Maybe try running some dry gas through your car. Make sure to read directions to get proper ratio. Hope I helped. PeAcE!
