When I start my car, the engine makes this awful sound and this sound goes on for about 5 minutes, longer if it is very cold outside. I noticed this several months ago, but it only happened when it would be cold out, but now it happens quite often. I have also noticed that there is a fan that is still going in the engine when I turn the engine off, this fan runs for about 10 minutes after the engine is turned off. Could you please shed some light on this problem?

Try a thinner or thicker viscosity of oil.

Whats the sound sound like?

And the fans are the cooling fans and they are supposed to run after then engine is off to cool down the coolant even further. As long as its turning off!
