The temp gauge in my car does not work properly, sometimes not at all. I replaced the sensor/sending unit and I thought it was working correctly, but today it didn't even move while I drove 85 miles. When I got home the fan came on and ran for about 5 min. Is the gauge bad or where else should look for the problem? Thanks.

Check the wiring/connections for the temperature gauge if it checks out-the gauge could be out of calibration.
