Prior to the car not starting, for about 2 months I would notice a problem while driving. It would sound like the car was about to turn off but then it never did. Then one day it finally just wouldn't start. The battery is fine, lights come on and radio. We changed the fuel pump, thinking that was the problem, but it still won't start. The timing belt is fine and not broken. All fuses are fine. It sounds like it wants to turn over but it does not. Any suggestions as to what the problem could be? And how do you know if the problem is the starter?

Welcome to the forum, if the cranking rpms are good, it isn't the starter. If no starter action, I'd have to make sure the battery has a full charge and the connections are good. How long since a tune-up?

Does the starter crank, with key in start position?

Yes, the starter does crank with the key in the start position. Could it be the battery not having a full charge? We did take it to kragen to charge the battery because it ended up dieing after the car was sitting in the garage for so long and they said something about they could not recharge the battery because it is bad. However, after changing the fuel pump, putting gas in the car and bringing the battery back from Kragen, we gave it a jump with one of our other cars. The lights came on, radio worked, and car would not start. I apologize, when I said that the battery was fine in my post, I had forgotten that we jumped it and the lights and radio came on. So could that be all? We just need to purchase a new battery?

The battery may be part of the problem? I can't be sure that is your only problem?
