Can a 1996 impala ss, use a 4 cylinder engine. I'm using a 4 cylinder engine because I was told it's a good gas saver.

and how do you know what is the wheel drive type for a car?

Anythings possiable if you have the money to spend on it. But in all honestly that vehicle is very heavy, and the transmission would not fit a four cylinder motor. If you where able to modify it, and it would take alot. The four cylinder engine would be working so hard to push that car you would not get any better gas mileage
