My car was not cranking very good, so i replaced the starter, a seperate seleniod i was given has a third post and was told it was for an electric choke. starter makes a clunk but no crank. Starter does crank really good but does not start with the seleniod that was sold with the starter, witch only has the two posts. why isn't the starter cranking when the seleniod with third post is hooked up?

Put the purple wire on the starter solenoid and see what happens. I believe the other terminal is the ignition bypass to apply full battery voltage to the coil once the engine fires up the resistance wire will drop the coil voltage to 9 volts to prevent the coil from burning up
