Will not go into park?

Hello, My equinox drove fine today. When I arrived at work the car would not go into park. I engaged the parking brake and turned off the engine. I made it home ok but now it will not go in to reverse either. Suggestions?

More than likely this is a shift cable issue. It could be an internal transmission or manual valve issue but more than likely this cable is out of adjustment or needs to be replaced.

What I would suggest is removing the cable for the transmission side and try to manually put it in park. If it goes into park then you need to adjust the cable.

Please see below for the info from the manual on how to replace the cable and that includes the adjustment process.
