In my 1982 chevy el camino I have the stock 305. I have a chance to put a 1999 LS motor in it. Being that the LS is a newer engine and all stock components would be on the LS, would it pass a smog visual inspection?

I've never personally delat with legal smog visual inspections, but putting a newere engine in an older car, they run alot cleaner thatn the old82 would. But you would have to make sure you are using a computer with it This would require you to put at least an O2 sensor in each exaust. You could use an aftermarket what they call a short computer as it doesn't have all the controls a factory unit does.
