My corvette has 73000 miles. It will crank but I don't think the distributor is working. Is there a quick way to be sure? If I try to start the engine, I smell gas after cranking it for 15 seconds or so.

You can get a cheap spark plug tester. Click on JC Whitneys' web site and do a search for spark plug tester. This will give you at least a visual on the one I use to test for spark. These are safe to use and are found at almost any autoparts store..But please don't go changing things assuming that a certain part is bad, when it may be good..First determine that there is no spark..If no spark have the ignition module tested. Autozone or a place like that will test them for free..Let me know how you make out.
