I recently had both throttle bodies rebushed and rebuilt. The engine idle was erratic before the re-build and now that it's running, it's still erratic. It seems to be opposite of what it should be. Cold starts with low and rough idle. As temp comes up, it smooths out but the RPM's climb to between 650 & 1000. While driving it, the rpm's never come back to the same place twice but will generally stay between 650 and 1000.
I also thinnk this effecting the shift points in the trans.

Those cross-fire engines always idled erratic, that is one reason it was only used for 2 years. Be sure that all linkages are good and that they are synced (timed) properly to each other. The trans should be controlled by a cable rather than a vacuum signal. Be sure the trans cable is smooth in operation and not hanging up causing the erratic shifting, also be sure the Idle Speed Control Motor is clean and operating properly.
