1996 Chevy Corsica 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 155 K miles

The other day my girlfriend and I were driving to go look for a new car for her to start college in. We started hearing this buzzing noise that sounding like a game show on tv, when you get the answer wrong. It was coming from under the dash on the left side of the break. The next day we noticed the buzzing noise was also making the odometer move around while we were driving, and the next thing you know the car dies. We checked all the fuses near where the noise was coming from. Nothing. Can you help us figure it out? Its the only car Ive got.

Is the noise still there with the key on and the engine off? Have you checked to see if you are getting spark and fuel to the engine? Chances are there is a bad relay to the fuel pump. Here is a how to for checking for spark and fuel pressure. One will be missing. Let me know which one:
