Transmission problem
1994 Chevy Corsica Automatic 133000 miles

The transmission is acting funny in my corsica. When I press on the gas, the car slows down a little and then afer about 10 seconds or so, it seems like it pops into gear because I'm not excelerating quickly. It some times feels that you are on a tetter-totter when going down the highway and I dont know why. What is the best solution to this? Replacing the transmission or is it an engine problem?

Hi:

Based on your description, it sounds more like the engine is missing or almost shuting down. Does it do this at any speed? Also, when you first pull out from a stop, does the vehicle accellerate in a normal manner?

Let me know so I can try to direct you.

Joe

It only usually does the "swaying" or teeter-totting when it gets over 55. It seems to have a problem first getting started and up over 15 and then again has trouble getting over 55-60. As long as I keep my foot on the accelerator while its swaying, then it'll stop after about 15 seconds but then go it again about a minute or two later.

Thanks for your help.
