I have a 1991 Corsica with the 3.1 engine. Lately it runs a little rough around town. It surges when I take off. And occasionally dies.

Last night I drove about 25 minutes. Parked it and did some shopping. Half hour later it ran but barely. I drove it about a block and it died and would not restart. It would fire and run for a second and that was it.

I tried some starting fluid and that didnt help. After messing with it for a while I cranked it over and pumped the gas pedal repeatedly. It started and ran very rough. I continued pumping and it cleared up and ran decent.

The SES light has not turned on once.

I had a similar problem a month ago and took it to a shop who replaced the fuel filter.

A good friend said its probably the module. Any ideas as to what it may be.

The car was used by little old ladies its entire life. I've put on 4000 miles in the last 4 months. Its had oil changes regularly. Mechanically it seems like a good car. Just an oil leak until this happened.

Help!

Last night it was a bear to start but it did start. It ran poor until I got to highway speeds and it was fine. Stopped and drove rough. Had to find a sweet spot to get it to not surge.

This morning it ran terrible. I had to pump the gas to get any speed out of it. But once it cruised it was fine. After a while it was running decent.

Shut off and restart a minute or two later and it fired right up.

I'm guessing its module time.

FWIW this problem ended up being a fuel pump.

I could get the car to run when cranking it over and spraying starting fluid into the throttlebody.

I changed the module and was delighted to find out that it still wouldnt start.

Hope this helps someone
