1996 Chevy Cheyenne stalling out when driving

I had a '96 once with the same problem. My problem was a single wire that came from the ignition coil. It had rubbed/chaffed on something and the connection was almost completely gone. It should be a black wire. I just spliced it back together and used plenty of shrink wrap tubing to protect the wire better. Whatever your problem is, it sounds like ignition. You also might want to check your distributor cap and rotor for cracks or wear.
