Electrical problem
1994 Chevy Cheyenne 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

I bought a 1994 2500 from my son. It has always had problems turning over. I took it to a shop once and they told me it was a switch for the clutch. I am not sure if it was replaced or just cleaned but it worked for a short while. Sometimes I can get it to crank by pulling the key in and out and pressing and releasing the clutch now I get nothing. I cant even jump start it after replacing the battery. I was told it was not the ignition switch so I really don't know where to start. Any ideas.

Do you have an alarm system it maybe got activated by changing the battery !?!?
to check ignition switch and clutch switch you may also need a helper to do the cranking while you do the testing and checking(keeping it very simple )
Need a test light
place one end of the test light on a good ground
locate clutch switch (top the clutch paddle )and check if you have battery power at its terminals when cranking(yes means ignition switch is good no power possible bad switch or wire between the two switches)
if yes depress the clutch paddle all the way and crank know you should have battery power in and out the clutch switch (if not switch no good …..replace or adjust )
if yes move on to the starter
at the starter and at the S terminal u should have power while the clutch depressed and ignition key in the start position if yes check for power at the big B terminal at the starter if yes starter no good
good luck let me know
