I have a 70 c-10 and its more of a hot rod than an everyday driver. I have a good rear end and a healthy 350. Heres the problem. I need another gear, the truck was originally a 3spd and I swaped it out for a 4spd. Is there any way possible to get some kinda electric overdrive switch or sumthing for it. Im trying to avoid a 5spd.

HI there,

If you want this extra cog, you will have to invest in a 5 speed box, there is really no other option.

Well that was what I was wondering. I just heard through the grapevine that you can buy a kit that add an overdrive gear activated by an electronic shift module that ran as a pull switch up your shifter. Is there even such a thing? Ive drivin 2 spd rear axles so I figured there might be such a device for the tranny as well!

Hi there,

There were some electronic overdrive units mainly used on early British sports cars, but these were type specific to the transmission, maybe check out the local speed shops and hot rod clubs (are you a member of one?) As they may have some information on what may be around.

Hmm. Thats interesting! But no I belong to any clubs. Sounds like something id be interested in though! If there is such a thing out there I doubt there will be one to fit an old saganaw 4-speed! Lol but hey regardless of what anyone says, they're pretty good tranny's that hold together. I sure appreciate the info though its been real helpful!
