1989 Chevy Celebrity Car doesn't run, it starts up but dies

1989 Chevy Celebrity 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

When I start the car and put it into drive and as I push the gas it turns off. Then it won't start after that. Just as if you run out of gas.
