My Cavalier z24 1997 2.4 engine is running hot

I have 154,000 miles on this car and I just changed the thermostat housing. My temp gauge is showing that it is hot, my fan is working, it is not leaking water or boiling over, could my temp gauge sensor be going out? Or is there another area I need to look at?

Did you make sure youre you temp senors switch was connected properly. Also have you bleeded youre cooling system. You could have air bubbles traped in youre cooling system.
