Recently purchased. We had oil change and new battery installed. We know to tighten gas cap. Replaced fuse. The light stays on for awhile the goes off for long period.

Can not help any further without knowing the codes that are stored in the computer.

When an emission problem happens, code(s) are stored and the CEL lights up. The code nubmer will give us a testing starting point. Get them and post them.

*Gas cap has to do with the evaporative system, but may be not related in this case. A cracked gasket on the cap or rust on the surface of the neck can also cause an evap code. Not that this is necesarily related, just passing it along.
