Hello

The oil filter is behind engine on the passenger's. Here is a step by step guide to help you change it with a diagram below to show the filter location.

Its located at the backside of the engine (between the engine and firewall) nearest the passenger side. You can get to it from under the hood

The oil filter on a 2002 Cavalier is located in the front of the motor. There is a black plastic cap that has a 1 1/4" nut attached to it. You need to remove this plastic cap to get to the paper filter. It does not have a metal canister like most filters. It's an internal filter. To find this black cap look just to the left of the power steering fluid container and down.

Look at the pass side front of engine underneath. You may have to remove a shield to get to it

I have a 2003 Chevy Cavalier LS/Sport coupe with a oil filter located on the top of my vehicle next to the engine, I am wondering if anybody can tell me how to remove (what tool I need) the black plastic oil filter cap, So I don't have to keep going back to dealerships that want to charge me WAY more then they need to. Thanks for the help.

You need an 1 3/8" socket and an extention. Just break the seal with the socket and extention, and then turn it off by hand or you'll encounter the fine engineering that will not allow you to remove the socket.

Verify the size at the parts store when you buy it.
