Shakes or Wobbles problem
2001 Chevy Cavalier 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 161.92 miles

My car shakes when i get up to about 40 untill about 65 so wondering what it can be. Did not do it till i rotated tires but tires are like new so maybe it just got worse since then. Ball joint maybe?

If it happened after the rotation, I would say there is a tire balance problem. Where do you feel the vibration most, the steering wheel or the seat?

I am not sure why it started after the rotation, but it really sounds like you have a bad axle. If the pins in the axle inlet dont grip the axle, it will become loose and begin to shake at a higher rate of speed. I would take a look at your axle and make sure that it is the stock axle that came on the car. If the axle has recently been replaced, it is very possible that it may be 2-3 inches shorter than the original which will cause it not to hit the pins and it iwll eventually fall out. May be a tire problem too. Get them both checked, buudy. I know this because I have been given the wrong sized axle and my car only shook at aroun 50-60mph. Good luck to you.
