2001 Chevy Cavalier metal on metal squeak
Noises problem
2001 Chevy Cavalier 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 173568 miles
i've got a metal to metal squeak that's been worring me. i've checked all the brakes and they're all in good shape. it sounds like it's comming from the front end. serpintine belt is still in good condition. the part that worries me is it comes and goes. sometimes it'll squeak on turns, sometimes it won't. same thing for straight aways, bumps, and when braking. it's simply not consistant. any ideas on where else to look at would be great.

Start here:
Raise car, put on stands. Grasp tire and push/pull both horizontally and vertically, if any movement then possible wheel bearing, ball joint, tie rod, control arm bushing.
Check CV boots for any signs of leakage or cuts/rips in rubber boot.
Also check exhaust system for loose hangers or bent heat shields.
