Check the fuel pressure to rule out fuel pump

Are you sure you run out of gas ? Maybe the car stopped because of another reason. Check for spark at the coil while cranking the engine . If you do have spark take out a plug and see if it is wet with gas . If it is take all plugs out . Dry them , hold trottle to floor and crank engine . This will blow excess fuel from cylds. Check to see if there is compression . Put back together and try to start.
