Check the fuel pressure to rule out fuel pump

Are you sure you run out of gas? Maybe the car stopped because of another reason. Check for spark at the coil while cranking the engine. If you do have spark take out a plug and see if it is wet with gas. If it is take all plugs out. Dry them, hold trottle to floor and crank engine. This will blow excess fuel from cylds. Check to see if there is compression. Put back together and try to start.
