My 2000,2.2l,156000miles cavalier start overheating, the mechanic change the thermostat, check the fan, took the air bubles out still did not resolve the problem .I change the thermostat 3 times to 3 differents mechanics,And it just can stop overheating.Plus I notice on freeway(pass65MpH)the temperature goes down below the normal and I can get no heat in the cabin, in city(under65mph) it's overheat pass normal, the heat came in the cabin but not enough.the fan switch in the cabin work only when turn on high. Any Idea what is wrong?? :

Your cav. could have many diff. problems things to check see if water pump is circulating water through radiator, check for plugged radiator, or it could have a slightly blown head gasket putting an air pocket in cooling system. Air pocket could be forced out when higher RPM's reached.

check all radiator and eater hoses if very soft and spongee replace them. as for the fan on high only it sound like the heater fan relay which is next to the fan motor.
