Electrical problem
1999 Chevy Cavalier 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

The negative battery cable was corroded so I changed it. Unknowingly I cut the main grounding cable so I replaced that. The girlfriend was driving the car earlier today and she said she heard "clicking somewhere" I checked it out and a 30 amp fuse was blown in the under hood fuse block. I'm pretty sure it was the ABS fuse. I turned the car on and smelled burning wiring. I can't find what burned. Now the temp gauge freaks out and the indicators turn on and off by themselves. What's wrong? I have a feeling it's the "brain" but I'm not sure. Please help.

You are going to have to find the wires that are burnt. When you changed the neg. cable did you remove the positive from battery?

ABS wiring is a good place to start since that fuse was blown. Make sure the grounds are in their original locations.
